Italian Restaurant in Portland: Coppia

Do we really need another Italian restaurant in Portland? Why the change from Vino Paradiso to Coppia after six years of business? What's different? These are some of the questions we have been asked since we re-branded and re-opened on September 1st, 2011.

Well, Coppia is not just any old Italian restaurant in Portland. The restaurant scene in Portland is officially off-the-charts these days, but we felt there were a few niches, gaping holes, that we could slip into nicely. First, there were no Italian restaurants in Portland that focus on the cuisine of Piedmont, and it so happens that Piedmont is one of our favorite regions in the world for both food and wine. Perfect! Second, there were no restaurants in Portland that specialize in pairings of food and wine. Got it! Coppia, which means "couple," or "pairing," reflects our passion for pairing the food and wines of Piedmont, and it is our hope that our passion sets us apart in the thriving Portland restaurant scene!
